The plans for the Annual Greenville-Butler County Public Library Used Book sale are

under way.

The sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library conference room.

Librarian Burke McFerrin encourages all city and rural households to seek out what

might be a treasure-trove of mysteries, histories, children's stories, non-fiction and a little old-fashioned romance hidden under beds, stacked in cupboards and simply threatening to take over the house.

It this describes your home-then McFerrin and her staff urge you to include a contribution to their annual sale as part of your spring cleaning. "Our sales make it possible for a lot of children and families to be able to bring books into their homes to enjoy.

They get good books they can share and treasure that they wouldn't have otherwise.

I just feel no book should ever go to waste it's sacrilege," firmly states McFerrin.

Staff member Shirley Boutwell explains how real book hounds' can have first choice on the books for sale that weekend.

"On Friday, April 27, we have a preview sale open to the public from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

There is a $5 admission fee but everyone participating gets first choice from the selection."

All paperbacks go for 50 cents and hard bounds are $1.

On Saturday, admission is free, and prices will descend approximately every two hours.

"By the close of the day, we are selling books for a $1 a box-any size box-so customers can pick up lots of real bargains," Boutwell laughs.

Donations of used books are being taken right up to the day of the sale. "What we don't have room to put on display for this sale we'll save until the next one," explains Boutwell.

Book lovers are encouraged to bring their own totes, bags and boxes to haul their literary treasures home after the sale.

"We always have some boxes here-but never enough to go around," notes Boutwell.

Bibliophiles may also want to check out the attractive blue and white canvas "Library" logo bags on sale: a generously sized tote is $7.50 and a smaller size (perfect for lunches or a handy purse) is only $5.

Of course, all funds raised during the annual sale go toward to supplying new books, tapes and other materials needed by the Greenville-Butler County Public Library-a place that certainly benefits all citizens.
