Happy Stores grants to GHS

As a part of the Exxon-Mobil Education Alliance, the Greenville Happy Store presented a check to Greenville High School on Monday.

"The Greenville High School applied for a grant from Exxon-Mobil," said Tim Godwin, regional operations manager for Happy Stores. "It was selected from among the applying schools by the Greenville Happy Store to be the recipient of the award."

On behalf of the Greenville Happy Store, Mona Dunbar, the store's manager presented a check for $500 to GHS Principal John Black.

"We appreciate this award," said Black. "Our baseball and softball programs need help, so we are going to put this money into that program."

Black explained that the spring athletics programs were not a very large draw economically.

"This will certainly help the program," he said. "The spring sports program does not draw as much money as the fall and winter programs do, so this will definitely help."

The baseball and softball seasons are scheduled to start up in the middle of February.
