Little more than a week has gone by since GMS went to Troy, and came home defeated by the boys of Charles Henderson Middle School.

But what a difference a week can make!

&uot;The first time, they beat us by 24 points,&uot; said Coach Chresal Threadgill, known by students as &uot;Coach T&uot;.

&uot;When we came back, I realized that we had to get back down to the basics, including re-building the team attitude,&uot; Threadgill said. &uot;We had to work hard at playing tough, as a team again.&uot;

Threadgill said that the biggest quality required is attitude. &uot;If the team possesses the asset of a unified attitude, then they may become a great athletic force,&uot; he said.

Leading the score for the GMS Tigers was Michael Frost, with 18 points, including a three-pointer. Next, both Donnie Williams and Gavenston Warren had 10 points to their credit.

A. Hartman also made a three-pointer.

In the first period, the Tigers were only able to score three points, to the Trojans’ nine. But in the second period, the Tigers had a wake-up call, and scored twice as many points as the Trojans, with 14 against CHMS’ 7.

The third period was exactly opposite, as Troy put 14 up against GMS’ 7.

But then in the fourth period, GMS wasn’t going to give in as they did during the last meeting with this team. The Tigers scored 21 points, against the Trojans’ 11, to make the final score GMS 45, CHMS 41.

The top two shooters for CHMS were Quaivan Lewis, with 13 points, and Joey Moultry with five.

&uot;We needed this win,&uot; said Coach Threadgill. &uot;It was a real morale booster.

GMS will travel to Prattville on Thursday to face the Lions. Games begin at 5 p.m.
