B.C. Rain slipped past Greenville High School Friday night, 19-14.

The Tigers held a share of the lead until B.C. Rain quarterback Kevin Robinson pegged receiver Mike Powe for a 17-yard touchdown pass with 3:53 remaining in the final quarter.

That touchdown came on fourth down and twelve, after B.C. Rain, which was trailing 14-13, elected not to attempt a 34-yard field goal.

"It boiled down to they made the play, and we didn't," said Terry Moore, GHS coach. "And they won the game."

The Tigers, who dropped to 2-0 with the setback, kept the Greenville fans on their feet all evening.

"It was definitely a disappointing way to end the game," said Moore. "But we got about what we put into it."

Junior Armond Smith got the Tigers started with a bang when he hauled a mishandled B.C. Rain fumble 47 yards for a touchdown with 9:42 left in the first quarter. William Phillips added the extra point.

B.C. Rain got on the board when they blocked a Kevin Robinson punt and trounced on it in the end zone for a touchdown to knot the score, 7-7.

The Tigers provided plenty of excitement in the final minute of the half when Tyrone Davidson screamed down the right sideline and made a circus catch of a Jacoby Thagard toss for a 57-yard score. Phillips' kick made it 14-7.

B.C. Rain struck quick in the third when Charles Campbell weaved through Tigers traffic for a 19-yard touchdown. An errant kick left B.C. Rain a point short of even until Robinson and Powe worked their fourth-quarter heroics.

"They had some people that were hard, and that ran hard," said Moore. "We didn't tackle, and we didn't execute on offense.

"It was not the game plan that we had in mind. We just have to go back and work hard to get better."
