In what turned out to be one of the best tournaments in recent history here in Greenville, the Parks and Recreation Department played host for the Sub-District Tournament of the Dixie Youth Baseball All Stars.

The tournament was a huge success, and all the teams fought hard to the finish, not wanting to give up the fight.

The six teams, Greenville, Georgiana, Brantley, Luverne, Highland Home, and Troy National were all well disciplined, and listened to their coaches more than any other age group.

The proof was in the pudding, when the coaches strategically called the shots, and the players executed them with skill and finesse.

Notable games were played when Luverne put Georgiana out of the tournament by

just one point, and when Greenville surprised Troy by showing them that they were not intimidated, and won the tenth game against them, forcing an eleventh game.

All six teams made a grand showing, and should be proud of the way they executed the game.

Troy took home the championship trophy for the sub-district, and will face the winner of the series underway in Elba, and Greenville took home the second place trophy, and the right to hold their heads up proudly, because no one let any grass grow under their feet.
