The Red Sox took an early lead on top of the standings in the Dixie Majors League last week with a win over the Rockies, 6-5.

The Rockies jumped on top early as Jason Shows, Marshall Watts and Todd Nichols scored. Steven Sorrells came through with two outs for a two-RBI hit for a 3-0 lead.

The Red Sox cut into the lead in their half of the first as Adam Moore and Clint Philpot scored on a two-RBI hit by Jon Wright.

In the top of the third, the Rockies added two more to their lead when Mike Holleyfield and Shows scored, lifting the score to 5-2.

With one out, the Red Sox' Tony Norris, Ashley Lakes and Jeffery Burt scored to tie the game at five.

The Red Sox took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth as Wright scored on a basehit by Burt.

The Rockies were unable to score again in the game as the Red Sox held on for the one-point victory.

Philpot earned the victory on the mound for the Red Sox.

Red Sox 9, White Sox 8

The Red Sox played another barnburner last week, this time defeating the White Sox 9-8.

Clint Philpot scored the first run of the game on a base hit by Chris Moses to give the Red Sox an early 1-0 lead.

The Red Sox added two more in the third as Moses and Adam Moore scored to increase the lead and then added another pair by Ashley Lakes and Bryan Little in the fourth to make the score, 5-0.

The White Sox got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Adam Robertson and Aaron Barganier scored to cut the lead to 5-2.

Philpot scored again in the fifth for the Red Sox and they added three more by Philpot, Moses and Joseph Ryan in the seventh to give them a 9-3 lead.

The White Sox made a run in the bottom of the seventh as Elijah Freeman, Evan Brock, Dustin Holt, Adam Robertson and Brandon Pope scored. But, the rally ended one run short.

Jon Wright earned the win for the Red Sox and recorded ten strikeouts.

Rockies 12, Yankees 6

The Rockies remained in second place in the league with a strong showing over the Yankees, 12-6.

The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a run scored by Michael Cauthen.

The Rockies' Chris McPherson, Marshall Watts and Todd Nicholas scored in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.

In the top of third, Jerome Yiers, Cauthen and Josh Beverly scored to retake the lead, 4-3.

But, the Rockies would not be outdone and in the bottom of the inning Watts, Nicholas, Michael Holleyfield and Bo Tucker scored to propel them to a 7-4 lead.

The Rockies did not lose the lead again as they cruised on to a 12-6 win.

Yankees 14, White Sox 7

The Yankees had hot bats as they used a six-run third inning to help them defeat the White Sox, 14-7.

The White Sox took the lead with two runs scored by Evan Brock and Ben Mixon in the first inning. Bill Cates belted a double to drive both runners home.

Michael Cauthen scored for the Yankees in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1 and they added another on a run by Micael Bozeman in the second to tie the game.

In the third, the Yankees' Jeremy Viers, Josh Beverly, Matthew Paul, Bozeman, Justin Kimbro and William Phillips scored to give them an 8-2 lead.

The Sox' Aaron Barganier scored in the fourth inning and they added four more in the fifth, but it was too little as the Yanks scored three more runs in fourth and three in the fifth to take a 14-7 victory.
