The Greenville Tigers varsity boys' basketball team lost a real nail-biter to Carrol-Ozark last Tuesday night.

The 48-44 loss put the Tigers at 0-2 on the season.

GHS varsity boys' coach Drew Bledsoe said missed free throws were the deciding factor in the loss.

"The missed free throws cost us the game," Bledsoe said. "To be called free throws,' they sure

cost a lot when you miss them."

The Tigers missed 14 of 22 free throws.

From the field, GHS shot 18 for 41 for 44 percent.

From beyond the three point line, the Tigers shot

blanks. The team missed eight of eight from the line.

However, Bledsoe said the team played hard throughout the entire game.

"We played hard and did a great job of hustling," Bledsoe said. "Overall, the team put forth a great effort."

Leading the team in scoring was Sam Williamson.

Williamson had 12 points in the game while adding 10 rebounds and four steals.

This gave Williamson his first double double of the season.

"Sam did a nice job of rebounding for us," Bledsoe said.

Marlon Powell had seven points and four rebounds while teammate Antonio Owens also notched seven for the Tigers.

Kevin Lewis and Corey Bedgood each scored six for GHS.

The Tigers will face Monroe County on Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Monroeville.

"That will be our first area game," he said. "It will be a significant game for us and we'll do our best to win it."
