I graduated with Tony and Phyllis and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to them during this time. Lakeshia is to be commended for her bravery and dedication. Thank you for fighting for our freedom. You are all in our thoughts are prayers.

I agree, put four candidates in a forum and let the public fire questions at them. Color doesn't matter. If they can do the job, that is the important question. Two of the candidates left in the final four were relieved of their duties as principals--if they couldn't handle one school, how in the world are they going to manage a county? That is the part that is so dumb and aggravating. It is sad that the teachers and the children have to settle because the board is scared to have a mind or backbone of their own.

I just hope whoever the board decides upon will be the best for Butler County. I do hope that the Board will not "reward" those that have once been rewarded by promoting them again for not doing the jobs they were hired to do. While it would be good to have a local person, you certainly don't want a person that couldn't, wouldn't or didn't perform their original jobs. I don't understand why other counties vote on the superintendent. If other counties can vote, why can't Butler County. Good luck to Billy Wayne Jones on being the new president of the board.

Pennie was awesome. If anyone can go throw all that she has been through and still be going, we all aught to be ashamed to ever complain. Cancer doesn't care and never sleeps. If your family has not been touched by it, you should consider yourself very blessed. Everyone look deep within and be willing to help when someone comes to you asking for a donation, sponsorship, etc. Everyone should and could be involved. If Pennie can keep on going, so should we. Thank you to all who work tirelessly to fight this terrible disease.

I agree, if a buidling or location in Greenville is good enough for the movies, why not the people. I think it is pathetic that they brought their "extras" with them. Boy, was that a slap in the face.

I agree. I would rather shop in Greenville, but if you can't fiind what you are looking for, you have no choice but to go elsewhere. The customer service you get also plays a big role in where folks go. I was in Wal-mart just Friday afternoon and the lady at the service desk was anything but friendly. With regards to Wal-mart, I'd much rather go to the one in Andalusia. No only do they have a different variety of items that the Greenville store does not have, but you do receive better service. Everyone can keep on harping, shop in Greenville, but if the service is bad, people will not shop here. If you want to encourage folks to shop downtown, then encourage your downtown merchants to park elsewhere instead of in their doorway.

I agree everyman. Roy Moore scares me and it is bothersome how so many people could want him to be the next governor.

Yea, I was wondering the same thing. Greenville has more talent than that mentioned. There are alot of former Old Gym Players that would have loved to have been on that stage again, but oh well. It is sad how folks from out of town are always the ones planning the reunions, etc. There are many that didn't know what was going on.

I beg your pardon. Yes, while the number of farmers within the county is lower than in the past, there are still more than the chicken growers. If you say that "they ain't farmers", well, my friend you are wrong. Chicken growers are very much a farmer. Why don't you just follow along in one's step oneday and then we'll see what you think. Whether or not you know it, chickens are a commodity and yes, someone does have to grow them. It takes more than just putting them in a house. The chicken growers of Butler County could teach you a thing or two. Or maybe, they couldn't. Why don't you think about your food. It seems as though you are slamming farmers. Farmers are the backbone of what you eat and provide the clothes and paper, etc. Farmers could do alot for you.

Paul is a great man and has been an asset to ALFA and the farmers of Butler County. He will surely be missed. I wish him well on his retirement and enjoying the grandkids.
