OMG! When I read the intro, I thought it must be April 1st! Have I just been out of the loop, or was everyone surprised by these events?? Glad to hear about the name "correction," but hate to hear of the demise of the magnet school. How disappointing.

So where's all those people who were "demanding" answers?? If you want to be involved, then be involved.

The truth of the matter is that this is not just a local problem or even a state problem. All you have to do is look on the internet and you will see that school systems across the country are dealing with the same $$ issues. Unfortunately, from what I've read, there is no answer that's not going to hurt the school system somewhere. No matter what is decided, some people somewhere are going to be highly upset. Just be prepared to not be satisfied with the decisions made during this economic crunch. I do believe that our system leaders make decisions to the best of their ability, there's just not a perfect answer.

How does this differ from selling raffle tickets...or is that illegal, too??

The "Pig" looks great! Now if it would only inspire some of the other "old" businesses to upgrade. It saddens me to see how downtown Greenville has begun to turn to rubble. I can still remember the days of so many people shopping and walking the sidewalks that it was hard to get around. It's wonderful to see the parking lot at the Pig full again!

The lowest property taxes in the nation? Probably the worst roads also! Come on people, if you want better conditions you have to remember that they don't come free. To be honest, I don't see how the survey is a valid representation of public opinion. The number of responses is too small.

Considering that bus drivers are among the lowest paid employees, exactly how much money is this saving to eliminate one driver and route? That's like plucking your eyebrows to lose weight! Guess you gotta start somewhere.

The lights do seem to put "magic" in the air! I like the parade at night. Just bundle up tight and put on extra socks to keep your feet warm. Believe me, the kids don't mind being cold when they see all those lights coming down the street! The parade may not be the same as many years ago, but this year was an improvement from recent years.

Why does Halloween always seem to bring out such anger in folks? Were we angry about it when we were children? Sometimes it is best to keep the same perspective of innocent children. They see Halloween as a day of fun, getting to dress up and collect candy. Why do adults have to spoil it? Is it evil---sure if that's what you believe. Is it just for fun---again, sure if that's what you make of it. It's all a matter of perspective. Those who live in the dark world of negativity will never see the bright side of things.

Sorry, but this is not a "Tim James" only headline. The state of Georgia already has this bill up for debate:
"ATLANTA (AP) -- A bill is before the Georgia Legislature that would require that driver's license exams be given only in English. " Don't know if it passed. Other states may be considering the same; just happened to run across this one!
