Wilbur Earl Thompson Wilbur Earl Thompson, 78, of Huntsville passed away Monday at his home with his family at his side. Mr. Thompson graduated from Greenville, AL, High School in 1948. He was a Korean War veteran having served 5 years in the Air Force as part of their Mobile Training Group. He received his degree from Troy State University. His first job after graduation was with NACA at the Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. He later transferred to the Space Task Group that was the forerunner of the Johnson Research Center in Houston. In 1960 he transferred to Huntsville and began a long career with NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center, retiring in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Illene Dexter Thompson of Huntsville; his mother, Lura Haire Thompson of Montgomery; two children, son, Larry Thompson, and daughter, Alicia Fanning and her husband, Michael; four grandchildren, Bartlett and Dexter Thompson and Anna and Rachel Fanning, all of Huntsville; brother, Malcolm Thompson and his wife, Jean, of Greenville; sisters, Betty Cardinale and husband, Frank, of Greenville and Carolyn Gibbs of Montgomery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:30 on Wednesday, April 9th at Trinity United Methodist Church at 607 Airport Road followed by a Memorial Service at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association of Alabama or Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund or to a charity of your choice. Evelyn Ferriestine Gibson Evelyn Ferriestine Gibson, 83 of Fort Deposit, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Church services were held Friday, April 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Antioch East Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Boulware officiating. Burial will follow in Moriah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Visitation was held Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Mrs. Gibson is preceded in death by six brothers. Mrs. Gibson is survived by husband, Milton M. Gibson of Ft. Deposit; son, Ronald (Peggy) Gibson of Ft. Deposit; daughters, Mary Dianne (Lionel) Lowe of Lumberton, Miss., Ella Carrol Groebner of Ft. Deposit, Angelia Margaret (Kerry) Lunsford of Acworth, Ga; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Stella (Gaston) Cowart of Greenville. Frankie Jo Friend Frankie Jo Friend, 47, of Georgiana, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Chapel services will be held Friday, April 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Watson Wasden officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery, with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home Directing. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Mrs. Friend is preceded in death by son, Cody Friend and granddaughter, Brittany Friend. Mrs. Friend is survived by husband, William Dale Friend of Georgiana, AL; daughter, Melissa Friend of Eclectic, AL; four grandchildren; sister, Debbie (Phil) Flynn of Irvin, KY; several nieces and nephews.
