On Monday afternoon, citizens of Luverne got some insight from a congressional hopeful as Martha Roby stopped by the John Harrison Cultural Center.
Roby is running for the House of Representatives in Alabama’s Second Congressional District.
The main focus of her speech was to give those in attendance an idea of who she is and what she stands for.
“It is important to know what a person’s fundamental values are when you send them to Congress,” Roby said.
She also said that she is “absolutely appalled” at the current leadership in Washington and the amount of government spending happening.
Roby also said she believes there is a way to get the country back on track.
“There’s a way to do it through the free market and not by growing the government,” she said.
Roby lives in Montgomery, where she has served on the Montgomery city council since 2003.
“We have to elect people who are willing to make tough decisions,” she said.
