'Twihards' encouraged to give blood while visiting big screen
Published Friday, June 25, 2010
Twilight fans, choose your team (Edward or Jacob) and earn your t-shirt. All you have to do is roll up your sleeves and give the gift of life.
Life South is partnering with The Edge on two dates for Twilight Blood Drives as the latest in the hugely successful series, "Eclipse," hits movie theaters.
The first blood drive is set for June 29 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Greenville theater.
LifeSouth will return to the Camellia City and The Edge on Saturday, July 3 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the theater parking lot.
All donors will receive their choice of a special event "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob" t-shirt.
According to Galen Unold, director of recruitment and retention for LifeSouth, donors have proven very generous during the release of the "Twilight Saga" films.
"And it's not just the films. When movies were released on DVDs and fans lined up to grab the first copies, many of them took the time to donate as well," Unold said.
According to Unold, summertime is typically a down time for blood centers, with many regular donors out of pocket and unable to give blood. Yet it is also a time when more people are on the road, with more accidents occurring, increasing the need for a good blood supply.
"So 'Eclipse' may literally be a lifesaver for many," Unold said.
To donate, a donor must be 17 or older, or 16 with parental consent, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is also required. For more information, call 334-260-0803 or visit www.lifesouth.org.

Cute. Haven't (and won't) read them nor watch them, but I'm glad folks are at least reading... something.
Good cause.
