Domestic Violence Month Campaign at LHS

Published Thursday, October 22, 2009

In keeping with October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Luverne School is participating in a month-long Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign.

Accompanied by sponsor Mrs. Suzette West, several members of the LHS Key Club visited the Crenshaw County Courthouse and provided purple awareness ribbons for each of the county employees.

The students also placed purple bows throughout downtown Luverne. Anyone needing help may call the 24-hour domestic violence hotline at 1-800-650-6522.

Additional information may be obtained from the Crenshaw County Domestic Violence Task Force at 334-335-6575.

What's the purpose, living in Crenshaw County, although the abuser is arrested the judge is only going to throw it out saying that it was part of the divorce. Until my case, I've never know a civil and criminal case to be combined as one, only in Crenshaw County. The only thing you get in this county even if you press charges is the shame as being a victim. My child and I both were assaulted at different times and the only thing the abuser got was a get of jail card. I guess the next time the subscribers of the Luverne Journal will be reading our obituary. Thanks Judge
