GHS choir to perform in Nativity exhibit

Published Tuesday, November 3, 2009

For the last two years, Greenville resident Carrie Maxwell has started her Christmas season by attending the Interfaith Nativity Exhibit in Montgomery.

She especially enjoys the room of children’s nativities.

“I guess because growing up the nativity was a big part of our Christmas,” Maxwell said.

When Maxwell was a child, her mother displayed a nativity on the pump organ she inherited from her grandmother. Maxwell has the heirloom pump organ now.

“The nativity was always the center of our Christmas. It was a special way to start off the Christmas season correctly,” she said.

The Interfaith Christmas Nativity Exhibit dons a military appreciation theme this year.

For the valued service the military perform, the Interfaith Nativity Exhibit will honor them in the 2009 exhibit. Many nativities shared by military personnel throughout the area will be distinctively displayed.

This annual River Region celebration of the birth of Christ will continue to feature nativities from local dignitaries and hundreds of others.

“It’s neat to see different takes on nativities,” Maxwell said. “Some are obviously from different countries. All represent Christ. It didn’t matter whether they were small handmade Mary and Josephs or elaborate sets of a whole Bethlehem village.”

Maxwell’s mother collects nativities.

“She has them up all year long.”

Greenville High School will perform on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2:30 pm.

“The choir is actually bigger this year than it’s been in the past. They’re always really good,” Maxwell said.

What makes you say that?

I agree whoadaddy that INI won't like this and then he has the nerve to ask why you say this. Well, if you have forgotten INI(Rob Mello) about the Halloween book of posts where you said you don't like Chrisitans and make references that are not favorable to Chrisitans. Boy you make so many posts on every article published here that you forget what you have written. Pitiful!
He wrote this statement/post Whoadaddy trying to start up another long line of arguments and posts but Im sure you won't take his bait as I won't. I rest my case! lol

Whoa- Still waiting on an answer, like I was with Bucky. I hope you don't follow his road and make excuses for NOT answering. lol
Bam- I don't mind kids singing at any festival. That is THEIR decision. I honestly don't care if they sing at a KKK rally. Again, that's their decision! I quoted Gandhi in that Halloween article, and then said that I agreed. The literal torrent of venom from folks like yourself proved him, and my concurrence, correct. Again, thank you! :D
I did not "make references that are not favorable to "Chrisitans", BUT you DID make references that are insulting to pretty much every other religion, except your own. Which is why I called you arrogant and pompous. Yes, I do make many posts, because I enjoy discussions. I'm sorry you don't enjoy speaking/ writing with people of different points of view. Your world must be very boring indeed because if someone in your world has a different opinion you jump on them and argue like a three year old. So, go home and take your ball with you.
Namaste
INI
P.S. You may want to be a little more Christlike instead of Christian. It's a much MUCH better road.

INI, maybe these folks that do not read their bibles as they should might want to read Genesis 24: verse 2 and verse 9 and see how men in that day and time swore an oath to each other. It sure wasn't from shaking hands or anything like that. This is where the words "Testimony" , " Testify" and "Test " all got their origin. Knowing what the words mean is the best means to finding the factual truth in any matter. To be called intelligent is also expressed as one being brilliant or bright which is also an desciption of light so if one desires to be Christ like one would be seeking to be enlightened with knowlege. I never heard any of this stuff taught in church. I will use the quote from the " X-Files" on tv " The truth is out there". (but you gotta look for it )
