Greenville city council actions

Actions taken by the Greenville City Council on Monday night:
- Approved a resolution authorizing an inter-local agreement with the Butler County Commission and town of Georgiana for the purpose of applying for a Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program Award. Police chief Lonzo Ingram explained that the city will receive approximately $26,835, the county sheriff’s office will receive $4,000, and the Georgiana Police Department will receive $11,512 from the grant. The award is a noncompetitive grant, said Ingram, and he hopes to use to money to purchase another police vehicle.
- Approved a resolution authorizing a memorandum of understanding between the city and the Alabama Department of Public Health for the purpose of coordinating emergency services during a disaster. Greenville Fire Chief Mike Phillips said the memorandum helps outline what entities will respond to disaster situations, should one occur.
- Approved the following expenditures: $1,050 for the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department payroll; $1,620.93 to J.P. Sports Inc. for baseball batter helmets, catcher mitts, and face guards; $6,209.10 to ADAPCO for mosquito control concentrate; $2,254.76 to Municipal Code Corporation for codification of municipal ordinances.
The next city council meeting will be held on May 18, due to the Memorial Day Holiday on May 25.
