Five arrested in Highland Home drug raid

A three-week investigation by the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office of a Highland Home residence led to the arrests of five individuals charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

CCSO Investigator Heath Truman said that a search warrant came about due to information gathered from concerned citizens in the area.

The search warrant was executed at 414 New Bethel Church Road in Highland Home at the residence of Thomas Champion, 41. During the search, officers found two plastic bags of marijuana, and several items of drug paraphernalia. Numerous weapons were recovered, including one stolen rifle and one illegal sawed-off shotgun.

Arrested in the home in addition to Champion were Dana Ditto, 45; Shawn Ditto, 19; Harley Sexton, 19; and Vivian Leann Gant, 58. A 13-year-old juvenile was also present in the home and was turned over to the custody of the Department of Human Resources.

Officers present on the scene were CCSO Investigators Ronnie White and Heath Truman, deputies Jerry Pritchett, Mason Adcock, Jeremy Walker, Drew Morgan, and Dozier Police Chief Terry Mears.
