Giggles and Grins Learning Center, LLC held its official Ribbon Cutting ceremony recently in Highland Home.

Highland Home daycare open for business

In the midst of tornados and severe weather warnings during its Open House and Ribbon Cutting ceremony, Giggles and Grins Daycare and Learning Center kept folks with all smiles.

“We are very proud of how far we have come in such a short amount of time,” said owner Wendy Davis.

Most of the dedication and recognition went to their father, Wendell Williamson, who had such drive and focus to get the project successfully completed.

However, Williamson was unable to attend the open house as he was recovering from a double bypass surgery resulting from a heart attack earlier in the week.

Williamson’s son, Vance Williamson, came from Birmingham to fill in some remarkable shoes as he spoke at the opening ceremony in the place of his father.

“The mission of Giggles and Grins Daycare and Learning is to give superior care and loving support to all children who enter its doors,” said Williamson before the ribbon cutting.

“At times, I’m sure they did not feel that it would ever be accomplished and, without the support of many people, it may not have been,” said Williamson

Some of those who were recognized for their support were Senator “Walking” Wendell Mitchell, Commissioner Ricky McElwain and all of the Crenshaw County Commission, Jeff Cohen and the Crenshaw County Health Department, Highland Home School and Principal Joseph Eiland, the Crenshaw County Economic and Industrial Development Authority, and many others.

Williamson also added that the building is a testimony of what can be accomplished when strong determination and an unfailing faith is pointed toward a worthy project.
