Luverne’s Bobby Tomberlin to hold CD signing next week

Luverne native, Bobby Tomberlin has just completed his first CD and is celebrating with a CD release signing at the Luverne Public Library on Wednesday, December 23rd from 2 until 5 p.m.

Most CD’s include no more than twelve songs, but Bobby’s CD includes eighteen tracks. The CD will sell for $15, and Bobby will donate two dollars from every sale to the Luverne Public Library. The CD includes guest appearances from Grand Ole Opry legends Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson and Steve Wariner. At the beginning of the CD, there is an introduction by Little Jimmy Dickens where he talks about Bobby’s history in Luverne. Bobby will bring his guitar to the signing and there will be Christmas caroling as well. Attendees can also register for 3 gift baskets that will include CDs and other country music memorabilia such as autographed items and posters.

The CD includes songs Bobby co-wrote with Josh Turner, Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers, Porter Wagoner, Bill Anderson, Little Jimmy Dickens, actor/writer, Paul Williams, Steve Wariner, Steve Dorff and his wife, writer/artist Candi Carpenter. Candi also provided background vocals on the project. The CD was recorded at CURB Studio in Nashville and was produced by Bobby and one of Nashville’s top engineers, Craig White. Inside the CD packet is a photo of the Luverne sign that stands at E.L. Turner Park, which was taken by Regina Grayson of Luverne; Regina is also credited on the CD for photo credit.

“I always brag about being from Luverne and I thought the photo would be a great way to promote my hometown,” Tomberlin said.

Bobby just spent one month in Hollywood filming 20 more episodes of The Singing Bee for CMT. The new season will begin in January. Bobby is one of the singers in the house band. On one of the episodes, Bobby told host Melissa Peterman about Luverne being the home of the world’s largest peanut boil.

Recently, Bobby and Candi also filmed three small scenes for the new “Pure Country” movie. The movie also features appearances by George Strait and Dean Cain and the main song was written by Tomberlin and Steve Dorff.
