Humane Society plans ‘Bark in the Park’ Nov. 22

The Greenville Animal Shelter is overflowing with pets in need of a good home. And the Butler County Humane Society is dedicated to helping as many homeless animals as possible find a new home.

With more than 30 dogs and puppies and several cats in need of loving families, the BCHS has organized

A “Bark in the Park” slated for Saturday, Nov. 22 in Confederate Park. The event will run from 10 am. to 2 p.m.

“We invite folks to come and take a look at some of these highly adoptable shelter animals and see what lovable, loyal and affectionate pets they can be,” says event chair Annie Crenshaw.

“Remember, President-Elect Obama is in the market for a shelter dog.”

Door prizes, a raffle, and a Pet Parade are all on the tap for the day.

“Bring your own dog for our Pet Parade Contest at 1 p.m. We will award prizes to the people whose dog or puppy is chosen as Best-Dressed; Smallest, Largest, Cutest and Ugliest,” Crenshaw said.

All pets brought to “Bark in the Park” must be on leashes or in carrying cages, and all contestant dogs/puppies need to be at the park no later than 12:45 p.m. for the 1 p.m. contest. The entry fee for the parade is $5, or any other donation amount to the Butler County Humane Society.

Proceeds from the event will go in support of the proposed Second Chance no-kill shelter to be established in conjunction with the city animal shelter.
