Kelvin Carnell Golden is wanted for robbery and brandishing a firearm in connection to the robbery of Trustmark Bank in Georgiana Monday afternoon. Golden is considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities now have a tangible lead in their search for a suspect wanted in connection to a bank robbery in Georgiana Monday afternoon.

The Georgiana Police Department, the FBI and several other agencies are searching for Kelvin Carnell Golden, who faces charges for robbery and brandishing a weapon after a then-unidentified black male walked into Trustmark Bank of Georgiana at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday and demanded money.

“The suspect was armed with a gun and received an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the bank,” said Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden.

“Law enforcement, along with the help of K-9s, tracked the suspect a few miles west of the bank on Highway 106, where he was apparently picked up by a vehicle.”

Georgiana police chief Carlton Cook said that he reached out to CrimeStoppers, and the organization then post a notice for the suspect in addition to the surveillance footage captured from Trustmark Bank.

According to Cook, it didn’t take long for information to pour in.

“CrimeStoppers did notify me on Tuesday morning that they did receive an anonymous tip,” Cook said. “A person called in and identified a possible suspect for the bank robbery that occurred at Trustmark in Georgiana. I later followed up with the tipster and gathered further information, and from that point I did reach out to the FBI with the information that I had received.

“The FBI, which is the lead investigator of this case, came down with a photo lineup and he was identified as the suspect who committed the robbery.”

Cook said that Golden has apparent ties to Alabama as well as Florida and that, from his understanding, he may have grown up in Evergreen.

Golden remains the sole suspect in the investigation at the moment, and Cook added that the department wouldn’t be able to determine the possibility of multiple suspects until an arrest is made.

The FBI secured a warrant for Golden’s arrest on Wednesday for robbery and brandishing a firearm.

“At this time, we’re currently placing a lookout for all local and nationwide agencies for the suspect,” Cook said.

“And we would advise all citizens that the suspect could be considered armed and dangerous, and if they do know his whereabouts to please contact the Georgiana Police Department at 376-2801 or the FBI.”

Anyone with information regarding Golden’s whereabouts is asked to call either the Georgiana Police Department at 334-376-2801 or the Butler County Sheriff’s Office at 334-382-6521.
