McKenzie woman found with meth during traffic stop

A McKenzie woman is behind bars and facing drug charges involved methamphetamine after being stopped by law enforcement Tuesday evening.

Agents with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force made a traffic stop on Alabama Hwy. 55 in the Garden community in north Covington County near the Butler County line.

“During the stop, agents made contact with four occupants, two of them being wanted for felony warrants,” Agent Greg Jackson said.

One of the occupants, Cassie Therrell, a female from McKenzie was arrested on a failure to appear charge for possession of a controlled substance.

During the arrest, Therrell was found to be in possession of an amount of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device.

She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was booked into the Covington County Jail on a $13,000 bond for the new drug cases and has no bond for the failure to appear.
