Demetrius Bennett Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Demetrius Bennett Sr. were held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. from Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. James D. Hall served as pastor. Rev. Timothy Bennett Jr. was the eulogist. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville, Ala. directed.

Mr. Demetrius Bennett Sr. was born on Sept. 1, 1981, in Warren, Ohio, to Carlos and the late Karen Bennett of Greenville, Ala.

Known to most family and friends as “Big D,” Demetrius attended Alden Elementary School in Warren, Ohio, through the third grade. Demetrius confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Warren, Ohio, where he was a member of the youth department.

In 1989, Demetrius and his family moved to Greenville, Ala. In 1991, he joined the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the youth department. He completed his grade school education, graduating in 2001 from Greenville High School. Demetrius furthered his education

through Trenholm State Technical College, earning a welding certification. During Demetrius’ high school years and college years, he maintained employment with Superfoods of Greenville, Ala., Hwaishin, Sejong and Hyundai Company (CSR) Smart welder/quality control, where he worked

faithfully until his passing. Demetrius loved to spend time with his family and friends, barbequing and cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes.

In the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, God saw fit to call Demetrius to his heavenly home.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Ingram Bennett, and maternal

grandparents, Thomas and Joan Ingram.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories forever his father, Carlos Bennett; fiancé, Veronica Womack; three children, Miyasha, Demetrius Jr. and Demiree; brother, Tyson; all of Greenville, Ala.; sister, Makia (Patrick) Plott, Auburn, Ala.; paternal grandparents, Robert (Ceola) Bennett, Greenville, Ala.; three nephews, Cordell, Jaten and Peyton; four nieces, Tykia, Tison, Tyonna and Taylor; father-in-law, Jamie Womack Sr. (Vernessa), Ozark, Ala.; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and close family friends, Elanor Thompson, Greenville, Alabama and Douglas Crum, Montgomery, Ala.
