Greenville Police have arrested a Fort Deposit man they say is responsible for stealing a purse that was left in a shopping cart in the Walmart parking lot.

Bruce Jones, 57, was arrested July 31 and charged with theft of property, second degree.
According to authorities, on July 9, Jones was on his way to enter Walmart and spotted a purse that was left in a shopping cart in the parking lot. He took the purse and placed it in his vehicle, according to Capt. Justin Lovvorn.
“The victim returned a short time after realizing she left the purse, but the suspect had already taken it,” Lovvorn said.

Investigators were able to use surveillance photos from Walmart’s security system to help identify Jones.
