Roy Calhoun Bender, 72, a resident of Greenville, died Monday.  Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Street Church of Christ with Minister Jack Cates and Minister Charles Box officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.  A visitation will take place on Thursday, May 21, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.  A second visitation will be at Walnut Street Church of Christ one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Bender was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bender; son, John Lowe; parents, Addie Lee and Lucy Bender; sister, Elizabeth Parsons; brothers, Edward Lee Bender and Clarence Ellis Bender.

Mr. Bender is survived by his children, Beth Bender Fox (Joe) of Christiana, Tenn., Pam Holp (Tim) of Greenville, Ala., Susie McIntyre (Thorn) of Greenville, Ala., and Betty Stabler (Chris) of Fort Deposit, Ala.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Doyle Bender of Greenville, Ala.; sister, Mary Frances Quates of Greenville, Ala.; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver Marilyn Peagler.
