Frozen Foot race a ‘success’

Runners and walkers from around the area laced up their sneakers to take part in the Frozen Foot 5K/10K on Saturday.

The race, which was hosted by the Greenville Standard, featured 71 runners/walkers, raised approximately $1,000, which will be used to help fund the Butler County Relay for Life fundraiser to be held in May.

Overall race winners in the 5K run were Brad Silva (overall male winner) and Shannon Hartley (overall female winner).

Overall race winners in the 10K run were Allen Bailey (overall male winner) and Katey Kimbro (overall female winner).

Other placements in the 5K race included: Dent Neilson (Masters overall male winner) and Daphne Davis (Masters overall female winner); David Orange (Grand Masters overall male winner) and Nedra Dunn (Grand Masters overall female winner) Hannah Styron (age division 10-19 overall female winner) and Christopher Stinson (age division 10-19 overall male winner); Blake Robinson (age division 20-29 overall male winner) and Katie Nahay (age division 20-29 overall female winner); Chris Stinson (age division 30-39 overall male winner) and Jessica Eastman (age division 30-39 overall female winner); Keith Gibson (age division 40-49 overall male winner) and Laura Shell (age division 40-49 overall female winner); Jim Parrish (age division 50-59 overall male winner) and Kathy Schofield (age division 50-59 overall female winner).

Event organizers Michelle Styron and Jeanne Callen called the race a success.

“We are thankful to everyone that came out and participated in the Frozen Foot Race event,” said Styron.  “We appreciate the participation from all of the race participants and sponsors.  Without their support, the event wouldn’t be possible.”

Styron said there are still two large T-shirts with the race logo and theme on them for sale. The T-shirts cost $15 each and the money raised from the sale of the T-shirts will be donated to the Butler County Relay for Life organization. To purchase a T-shirt contact Styron at (334) 371-9900.
