Mary Ellen Hines

 

Mary Ellen Hines, 94, a resident of Georgiana, passed away on Wed., Jan. 7, 2015. A celebration of life was held on Fri., Jan. 9, 2015 from the Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, directing arrangements. A gathering of family and friends was held on Thurs., Jan. 8, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Survivors include a sister, Edna Tillery of Atmore; and a number of nieces and nephews. Hazel Louise Scott

 

Hazel Louise Scott, 91, a resident of Gantt and formerly of McKenzie, passed away on Wed., Jan. 7, 2015. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sun., Jan. 11, 2015, from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Watson and the Rev. Doug Golden officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana will direct arrangements. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, S.L. Scott Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and James Kidd; four sisters; four brothers; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Survivors include daughters, Edna Ruth (Joe) Sexton of Montgomery, Betty Stephens of Gantt and Selena (Wayne) Barron of McKenzie; sons, S.L. (Jane) Scott Jr. of McKenzie, Richard (Rebecca) Scott of Auburn, Paul Scott of Gantt, Dewayne (Judy) Scott of Georgiana and Ron (Terry) Scott of Luverne; 20 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Kristie Stoudenmire Thomas

 

Kristie Stoudenmire Thomas, 39, a resident of Greenville,  passed away Wednesday, Jan7, 2015. A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 from the Camellia City Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Paul officiating. Graveside Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma at 2 p.m. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana will direct arrangements. Survivors include: husband, Jason Thomas of Greenville; daughters Kortney Sanders and Tracey Sanders, both of Jemison; father, Gordon Stoudenmire of Selma; sisters, Sherri Stoudenmire Clecker of Stanton and Melissa Stoudenmire of Leeds. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 from Johnson Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Kristie will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until funeral time. A.J. Turman

 

Mr. A.J. Turman, 75, a resident of Lapine, died Friday, January 2, 2015 after a brief illness.  Graveside services were held at 11 am Monday, January 5, 2015 at Coolsprings Cemetery with Rev. Jay Samson officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mr. Turman was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Sexton Turman, and his parents, O.M. and Jewell Rhodes.  Survivors include three stepsons, Mike (Reba) Sexton, Patrick (Donna) Johns, and Mark Johns (Michelle Miller); six grandchildren, Tara (Donnie) Frazier, Wesley Johns, Zane Sexton, Anna Johns, Erick Horne, and Dustin Horne; one great-granddaughter, Brookelyn Frazier; and a devoted caregiver, Peggy Rhodes.  Active pallbearers were Patrick Johns, Mark Johns, Wesley Johns, John Taylor Thomas, Danny Earl Thomas, and Mike Sexton. Honorary pallbearers were Guy Frost, Bobby Moore, Ray Moore, Don Kisselburg, and Tyre Sexton.
