Georgiana’s City Council tabled a motion to rename Parmer Avenue on the Hwy. 106 side to Dr. Martin Luther King Drive at its meeting Tuesday night.

The street’s name change would only affect the end of Parmer Avenue closest to the highway.

In other business, the council:

• discussed the Christmas parade, which will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m., starting at the old high school.
