The Iron Bowl may be tonight, but customers and fans alike will be taking advantage of the deals and specials today for Small Business Saturday.

On a local level, small shops and boutiques will be open in time for customers to shop and get home for the big game.

At Southern Mint Boutique on Commerce Street in Greenville, owner Chae Brown said she will hold her regular operating hours today.

“We will run several different sales and specials (today),” Brown said.

Southern Mint carries mostly women’s clothing and accessories, along with some men’s clothing.

Brown said she is having a 20 percent sale on all accessories, like jewelry, purses and scarves. Additionally, the local boutique is having a 10 percent off extra on clearance items, where some are already discounted at 50 percent off.

For the football enthusiasts, Brown said all game-day wear will be 30 percent off.

“For us, the sales are just thank you for the customers who always support us,” she said. “Maybe this will get them to come out and shop before the big game. We’re hoping for a busy day.”
Southern Mint will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. today.

Brandy Phelps of Turned Treasure, said her hot items include making personalized Alabama or Auburn T-shirts.

“More people come in that want to get shirts made,” Phelps said about having Small Business Saturday as the same day as the Iron Bowl. “It might help us. I don’t know.”

Some of the things that Turned Treasure sells in its gift shop include bags, glass ware and cutting boards, to name a few.

Turn Treasures is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

In Georgiana, the Mustard Seed will be having 40 percent off sale on all ladies dresses all day today.
“As far as specials, that’s going to be only special,” Mustard Seed owner Debbie Stinson said. “We always have marked-down items.”

In the seed’s gift shop, one can find gifts for ladies and Christmas ornaments.

The Mustard Seed is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
