The Luverne High School Tigers fell to an undefeated Elba last Friday, with a final score of 58-40.

“They are a really good team,” said Luverne head coach Mike Dubose.

The loss places Luverne’s record in the region at 3-2 for the season. Despite the final score, Dubose said the Tigers had a good game.

“We played well,” he said. “Especially on the offense side of the ball, especially special teams.”

He planned to work on Luverne’s kicking game before Friday’s region game against Zion Chapel. It will be the last home game of the season. “And possibly the last game the seniors will get to play on that field,” added Dubose.

The Rebels are 1-4 in the region, after losing 52-0 to New Brockton last week.

The Tigers came out ahead in the teams’ last match-up. Luverne won 60-0. Dubose said the Tigers and the Rebels had a lot in common.

“Like us, Zion Chapel is a good team struggling in some areas and doing well in other areas,” he said. “We’re very excited about playing.”
