Pink Sox 8, Diamond Divas 3

Anna Claire Thomas started at the pitcher’s mound strong for the Diamond Divas, allowing one run with three quick strikeouts that made for a brief inning.

Thomas and fellow teammate Alexa Reaves went to work at the plate to post two runs of their own for the Diamond Divas.

But the second inning was a different story altogether, as Alyssa Johnson, Takyra Marsh, McKinna Duke and Alyssa Wiggins connected for four runs and a sizeable lead.

A total of 10 strikeouts from Haley Burrage kept the Diamond Divas’ productivity at the plate to a minimum, all but killing any chance of a comeback.

Claire Campbell, Reagan McGough, Teriyana Fore, Kinley Woodard and Makenna Philpot each contributed a run to give the Riptides a sizeable 5-0 advantage from the very first inning.

Meanwhile, the Rascals found it difficult to get started, as Woodard only allowed one hit in the first two innings of play.

The Rascals rallied in the third and fourth, however, led by efforts at the plate from Emily Bowen, Carley Botwell and others, but few runs resulted despite the number of players on base.

Teriyana Fore, Skyler Springer and Hannah Laird each contributed two RBIs for the Riptides.

Errionna Burnett posted the Rascals’ single run.

The Dixie Angels rivalry continued as it was the Rascals who jumped out to an early 6-2 lead after one inning of play, as each of the first six players in the Rascals’ batting order posted a run.

The Riptides answered the challenge in the second, however, tying the game 6-6 with clutch contributions from Kaitlyn Wallace, Skyler Spring, Catherine Pope and Hannah Laird.

The back-and-forth continued with three runs scored from the Rascals in the third to clinch a brief lead, but the Riptides would strike last with three more runs from Claire Campbell, Rachel Whiddon and Virginia Coker.
