Shirley Jean Briggs Hinson went home to heaven peacefully Jan. 11. She was one of 10 children born to Cora Mabel (Wilson) and Carl Benjamin Briggs in Bucyrus, Ohio. Her husband of 41 years, Bobby Hinson, preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Charles Danny) Taylor; four grandchildren: Rhianna, Lauren, Logan and Kyle of Theodore, Ala.; two sisters: Annabelle Edgington and Ruth Eileen (Don) Matthews of Bucyrus, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her body will be donated to science at the University of South Alabama and her remains will later be buried in Butler County, Ala., at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Cemetery. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, Jan. 18, at First Baptist Tillman’s Corner, 5660 Three Notch Rd., Bldg. D, Mobile, AL 36619. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care they provided and specifically Catherine Kuck and Renee French for their loving kindness and care.
