Both were students at Troy University. Driggers, a former football standout at Brantley High School, had signed to play at Troy, but had yet to join the team. University officials say he was expected to join the team in the spring or summer of 2014.

“The university extends its most sincere sympathies to the Fuller family during this difficult time,” university officials said in a statement.

The shooting occurred at a home off County Road 29 between Luverne and Troy.

Driggers is currently being held in the Crenshaw County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to Crenshaw County Sheriff’s investigator Mike Johnson.

Johnson said Thursday morning the incident is still under investigation and the charge could change.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting at the request of the Crenshaw County Sheriff and District Attorney’s office.

Authorities say that no further details will be released as the investigation is ongoing.
