The Butler County Ministerial Association’s Thanksgiving service will be held Nov. 26 at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church.

The BCMA is made up of pastors and evangelists from various denominations throughout Butler County.

BCMA President Allen Stephenson said the annual service offers churches in the area to come together to worship, while also helping raise funds for various ministries of the ministerial association.

“This is an event we’ve had for several years that gives us an opportunity to come together and thank God for his richest blessings on us,” Stephenson said.

“We also take up a love offering that helps us with our ministries, such as our transient ministry. During the last several years we’ve been able to help countless people who are stranded in our community and are in need of gas money or food to get them to their next stop.”

Stephenson said the love offering will also help the BCMA provide assistance to those who are facing difficulties in paying power bills.

“There have been a lot of cuts to the organizations that have helped in the past with those type of emergency needs, and we’re trying to step in and help where we can,” Stephenson said.

The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature a message from Harold Simpson, the former pastor at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church.

A choir made up of members of various churches in the area will also provide music.

“We’d love for everyone to come out and come together as a community and worship,” Stephenson said.

The church is located at 347 Oglesby Street.
