Nurse arrested, accused of stealing drugsPublished 6:27pm Friday, August 30, 2013
Authorities have arrested a woman who’s accused of stealing prescription pills while employed at Crowne Nursing Home in Greenville.
Diane Spann, 47, has been arrested and charged with theft of property, second degree, for stealing more than 150 pills, including Lortab and Xanax.
Lt. Justin Lovvorn of the Greenville Police Department said Spann stole the pills over the course of a month’s time.
“She’d pocket certain pills, mainly the painkillers, and replace them with other pills that were for different things,” Lovvorn said. “That’s one of the things that really concerned us, and Crowne, about this case.”
Lovvorn said it does not appear that Spann was stealing the drugs to sell them.
Lovvorn said Spann will also likely face discipline from the Alabama Board of Nursing, and could lose her license.
