A 42-year-old man was shot and killed on Holly Hill Road Saturday night, authorities said.

Few details are being released at this time, but Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden confirmed that a man was shot and flown by helicopter to a Montgomery hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

“Late Saturday night we got a call in reference to a shooting,” Harden said. “When we arrived at the scene the victim was on the ground and the suspect was still there.”

Authorities are not yet releasing the name of the victim or the suspect, who was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Butler County Correctional Facility.

Harden said details surrounding the shooting are still unclear and that the investigation into the cause of the shooting is underway.

No charges have been filed, although Harden said charges would likely be filed Monday.
