Greenville native Christopher D. Boutwell is among the 15 Beasley Allen attorneys selected for inclusion on the 2013 Super Lawyers list.

Being named to the list is a designation earned by fewer than five percent of lawyers in the state.

Boutwell was named to the Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list, which recognizes the top up-and-coming attorneys – those who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing 10 years or less.

The Super Lawyer designation is based on peer recognition and personal achievement, and involves a statewide nomination process, independent research on each candidate, and peer evaluation by practice area. Criteria that factors into the selection process include verdicts, settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within the law firm, bar or other professional activity; pro bono and community service, scholarly lectures and writings, education and employment background, and other outstanding achievements.

Boutwell graduated from the University of Alabama in 1992 with a B.S. Degree in Commerce and Business Administration.

Prior to joining Beasley Allen, Boutwell served as Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s Second Judicial Circuit, where he gained extensive trial experience in both jury and bench trials. He also served as attorney for the Butler County Department of Human Resources, where with that department he fought to protect abused and neglected children.

Boutwell represents individuals, classes, and groups in individual lawsuits, as well as, in complex, multi-party litigation in state and federal courts and Multi-District Litigation (“MDL”) throughout the United States.

In 2011, Boutwell was selected as Lawyer of the Year for Beasley Allen’s Toxic Torts Section.
