Fort Dale Academy sophomore Ryan Burkett powered the Eagles to a 1-0 win over Lakeside School in the first round of the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Tournament March 21 in Cecil.
Burkett tossed all seven innings and allowed just two hits to help the Eagles notch just their second shutout of the season.
The FDA hurler also fanned 11 Chief batters and did not yield a single walk.
Burkett also led the Eagles (9-5) at the plate.
He finished the contest 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Junior Blake Harris was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.
Junior Chase Whiddon was 1-for-2 and freshman Austin Vickery was 1-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases in the win.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday when they take on Pike Liberal Arts School. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at the Fort Dale Sportsplex.
