Panthers drop two in a row

Georgiana School was defeated 11-1 by Florala High School Thursday.

The loss dropped the Panthers, who were topped 10-9 by Pleasant Home High School Tuesday, to 1-7 on the season.

The Panthers lone win of the season came on March 8 when they downed Wilcox Central High School 14-9.

On Thursday the Panther plated their lone run in the third inning to knot the game at 1-all before Florala exploded for six runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to claim the win in five innings.

On Tuesday Georgiana rallied from an 8-3 deficit with a six-run sixth inning to take a 9-8 lead, but was unable to hold off a late Pleasant Home charge. The Eagles pushed two runs across in the seventh and then held the Panthers scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.

Georgiana will face off with in-county rival Greenville High School today at 11 a.m. in Georgiana.
