Clara Mae “Madea” Davis was born on Oct. 3, 1916 in Honoraville to the late Maggie Mae and General Holston.  She was the oldest sibling of eight daughters.  God saw fit to add to His heavenly garden on the morning of Jan. 29, 2013.

In 1933 she became the proud mother of her only daughter born in Honoraville.  She would go on to have three loving sons, also born in Honoraville.

She moved to Greenville sometime during the 1940s, at which time she worked as a housekeeper and raised her children and helped with the upbringing of her younger sisters.

-Over the years, her doors were always open for her family. She nurtured and cared for everyone from her sisters to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 1977, she was joined in holy matrimony to David L. Davis.  It was a short-lived union, as her husband was called home to be with the Lord after a battle with cancer in April 1978.

She was preceded in death by General and Maggie Mae Holston (parents), David L. Davis (husband, General Lee Morris (son), Cassie Marsh, Alma Payne and Ethel Little (sisters).

She leaves to cherish her memory 3 children, Lillie Mae Johnson of Greenville; Hayward Price of Orlando, Fla.; Columbus (Sigrid) Roper of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Aunt Linnie Steele of Opp; 26 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 56 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
