The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the county’s second homicide of the year following a shooting death Saturday night.

Steven Faulk, 40, was shot to death at a residence on Pettibone Road.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, Barbara Wood has confessed to shooting the man, however, the reason for the shooting remains unclear.

“We’re still looking into why it happened,” Harden said.

Wood was placed in custody at the scene and transported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. She was later moved to the Butler County Correctional Facility where she is being held. Charges have not yet been filed.

“No formal charges have been filed at this point,” Harden said.

The case remains under investigation.
