Seven Fort Dale Academy seniors got the opportunity to face off against the AISA’s top talent Friday night when they competed in the annual all-star game.

Cade Tillery, Davis Crocker, Dow Gardner, Ryan Salter, Taylor Hartley, Taylor Windham  and Will Davis were named to the West squad, which was defeated 30-13 by the East.

Davis, who said he was “blessed to be able to play with some of the state’s best players,” was proud of his team’s effort.

“The highlight of it was putting up a fight against the other team,” he said. “Nobody outside of our locker room thought we could stay on the field with them.”

Despite the loss, the experience was a memorable one for the Eagles.

“It felt really good to be picked as one if the elite players in the AISA and I thought it was cool how a group of rival schools and fans came together and cheered for the same team,” Salter said.

For Crocker the highlight of the event came off the field.

“My favorite part was just being able to be with all the best players in the AISA and getting to know them better,” he said.

Hartley said the experience was made all the better by going with his teammates.

“I was excited that several of us were chosen and got to go together,” he said.

Anne Matthews also represented FDA as a West cheerleader, while head coach James “Speed” Sampley was named to coaching staff.
