Basketball Roundup: GMS Lady Tigers improve to 3-0

Greenville Middle School defeated Lowndes County Middle School 23-7 on Thursday.

With the win, the Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season.

GMS was led by Moeisha Brown’s 8 points.

Destinee Smith scored 6 points for the Lady Tigers and Adrienna Taylor chipped in 5 points. Jalisa McCall and Raneiyah Smith each scored 2 points in the win.

Greenville opened its season with a 27-18 win over J.F. Shields on Oct. 23.

Brown led the charge with 10 points. Taylor added 7 points and Destinee Smith, Nakeya Moorer, Jurnee Burnett, LeKevionna Powell and McCall each scored 2 points for the Lady Tigers.

Greenville also topped Hayneville Middle School 44-27 on Nov. 5.

Taylor paced the Greenville attack with 17 points. Destinee Smith and McCall each scored 5 points and Burnett, Raneiyah Smith and Brown scored 4 points each in the win.

Georgiana remains unbeaten

Clarence Curry and Nizaiah Smith combined for 31 points to lead Georgiana to a 52-39 win over McKenzie Monday night.

With the win the Georgiana junior varsity team improved to 3-0. The Panthers defeated Andalusia 44-31 and Brantley 37-20 last week. Curry scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the win over Andalusia.
