Robert Wilkinson Jones, age 66, a resident of Georgiana, Ala. died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. Graveside services were held in Magnolia Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Johnny Padalino officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Brian (Amanda) Jones of Georgiana, Ala., daughter, Allison Jones Grantham of Georgiana, grandchildren, Alana Jones, Anna Jean Grantham and Brian Lewis all of Georgiana, Ala., sister, Nancy Shanks of Greenville, Ala. and nephews, Jeff (Laurie) Shanks of Birmingham, and BJ (Ashley) Shanks of Greenville, Ala.

Mr. Jones was an avid University of Alabama fan and fisherman. He attended the University from 1964-1968 on a full four-year scholarship. He graduated in 1968 with a B.S. Degree is Education majoring in Biology and with a minor in English. He taught school in Titusville, Fla. and in Mountain Brook, Ala. After that he became the first Director of Education at the new Diabetes Research and Education Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Later he became the Personnel and Safety Director for Simply Fashion until he was forced to retire in 2007 due to his failing health.
