In-county rivals Georgiana School and McKenzie School will face off for 48 minutes on Friday night.

The winner will have bragging rights for a year.

“It’s always a big game when we play Georgiana,” McKenzie head coach Miles Brown said at the annual Coaches Corner event held prior to the start of the season. “Everyone knows each other. These folks see each other all the time, and I think that really makes for a strong rivalry.”

Georgiana head coach David Watts agreed, and added that with both teams playing in Class 1A, Region 2,  it makes the game that much more important.

“Anytime you play a region game it’s a big deal, and especially when it’s a rivalry game,” Watts said at the Coaches Corner.

McKenzie has won the last four meetings between the schools.

Both McKenzie (0-1) and Georgiana (0-1) are searching for their first win of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in McKenzie.
