Child dies in ATV accidentPublished 5:26pm Sunday, August 5, 2012
A 9-year-old child has died and her ex-stepfather has been arrested for manslaughter after he drove an ATV off a dirt embankment on Wildwood Road on Saturday.
Greenville’s Daniel Ray Soloman, 30, has been charged with manslaughter after he and the child were traveling on the ATV when the vehicle tumbled down the embankment, according to Butler County Sheriff Harden.
Soloman suffered minor injuries in the accident and the child was taken to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital.
“The child was taken to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital around 6:30 p.m. and was pronounced at the hospital,” Harden said. “I just got back from (the scene),” Harden said. “We have been working the scene out there all day.”
Harden said the name of the child will not be released at this time.
